Home page for mk2s
Yes, we're still working on the m88k just for the fun of it.
Hi, I'm Maki(mk2s at digitalcommute dot com). One of the contributors of this site. I've been interested in the m88k processors for quite a while now. Some of it goes back to my days in college. The m88k family was just annouced and was hot stuff. The really smart kids were able to find work implementing Mach on the Omron 88k boxes. The rest of us just ordered literature from Motorola and read the "Users Manual".
Many moons later thanks to ebay I ended up with a DG Aviion, A Motorola Series 900, and some MVME-187Cs along with a stack of NCD 88k terminals. I waited for a while expecting someone to "hack" the NCDs but that just never seemed to happen.
Eventually some really good work by the guys at OpenBSD.org produced a running open source os on the MVME and I've had the chance to put together a MVME machine that booted OpenBSD 3.6(pre release). This got me dusting off some old projects for the NCD.
With some luck perhaps I might be able to get the NCDs booting someting other than a X server. Stay tuned here at m88k.org.
